To finish off our winners week, we’re very pleased to meet Amber Kirk-Ford, the super talented winner of the Future8 Awards Blogger category, sponsored by Penguin Random House UK!
Amber has always had a strong passion for reading and writing. She began blogging at just 7 years old, and continues to do so today on her book review blog ‘The Mile Long Bookshelf‘ which she started aged 11. Amber quickly gained the attention of publishers and authors worldwide, and a loyal following. She is very driven, aspires to work in publishing or journalism, and already has her own regular column in her local newspaper.
Amber entered the Future8 Awards Blogger category with ‘The Mile Long Bookshelf’ and has won a once-in-a-lifetime prize with Penguin Random House UK!
We asked Amber, what inspired you to create your entry?
‘I originally started book blogging because I wanted to get my opinions out there – but none of my friends liked reading so I thought… why not start a blog? My blog is now five years old and I don’t think I’ll ever stop.’
Amber has won the opportunity to get her work published on the Penguin.co.uk blog, which reaches over 25,000 people. Her writing will feature alongside authors including Diary of a Wimpy Kid author, Jeff Kinney, Giovanna Fletcher and Nina Stibbe and exclusive content from the Penguin teams behind our biggest books. . She will also get expert mentoring sessions with Bethan Barker, Digital Marketing specialist within Penguin Random House UK’s Consumer Engagement Team, and of course take home a bundle of books and Penguin goodies!
Amber told us what she is most looking forward to about her prize:
‘I’m so excited about my prize – I’ll be getting mentoring sessions with Penguin Random House UK. One day I would love to work in journalism or publishing so whichever one I go for I think this will help a LOT and I’m so grateful that I actually get the opportunity!’
