To continue our winner’s week, we meet Future8 Mobile app category winner Faheem Anwar, as he tells us all about his winning entry ‘The Youth Booth’, and his amazing once-in-a-lifetime trip to Slovenia with Outfit 7!

Faheem’s mobile app ‘The Youth Booth’ really impressed the Future8 judges and won him a unique prize experience with the creators of Talking Tom, Outfit 7.

Faheem is the youngest Future8 winner at just 12 years old, from Slough, Berkshire. Since a young age he has been fascinated with technology and believes it will be important in any career route he ends up taking in the future. His father suggested he get out and socialise more so e decided to use this idea to create an app that can help kids like himself organise days out and interact with each-other in a safe environment.faheemwinner

We asked Faheem, what inspired you to create your entry?

‘My inspiration for this was my father who was telling me that I didn’t get out a lot and that I needed to be more sociable with my friends –  so I decided for my Future8 entry I would make something for this. Basically, the idea is that you can open the app and add your friends and everytime you want to go a theme park, or an attraction you can sign up, and the more people that sign up the cheaper the rate goes… I think that will be quite popular in the industry.’

Faheem will be taken on a trip to Outfit7’s creative and technology hub in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He’ll  experience all the different stages of app development with  Outfit7, from initial insight, concepts and artwork to testing and marketing – an amazing experience for any young app developer. He’ll also get to visit some of Slovenia’s most beautiful sights.

We asked Faheem what he is most looking forward to about his prize:

‘The thing I’m looking forward to most about my prize is actually being able to meet some industry experts and understand how they make their apps from initial insights to app concepts to actual coding itself. For example my app is built entirely from scratch using HTML and CSS… I know that apps are usually built using Java… I’d like to learn this so I can hopefully experience putting my own apps in the app store.’
